Destruction of brain cells by steroids

It is well-known that steroids are applied by several athletes in order to increase muscle size and strength. But according to recent researches, taking of steroids is a too negative aspect for brain cells. Since these drugs enhance amount of testosterone in body, they affect and even destruct brain cells. This confirmation about destruction of nerve cells by induced amount of testosterone was proven by a study conducted by Yale School of Medicine which was published in the Journal of Biological Chemistry.
Scientists suggest that unusual aggressiveness shown by steroids users show that certain amount of nerve cells was disturbed due to taking of steroids.
Barbara Ehrlich, a professor, a leader of a study related to steroids use, recommends not to condemn steroids consumers, if they behave unusually. You should realize that it must have been not their blame. Steroids must have been responsible for unusual actions of those who take these medicines.
The study leaded by Yale School of Medicine displayed that testosterone killed nerve cells. One of principal functions of testosterone produced naturally is following: to kill nerve cells which may be dangerous for the whole body due to their destructions. But when level of this hormone is enhanced, it destroys not only damaged cells but healthy ones too. It can lead to such dangerous diseases, as appearing of Alzheimer's and Huntingdon's disease and others.

Aggressiveness of hamsters due to steroids
Hamsters were recruited in one of researches published in the journal Behavioral Neuroscience. The scientists participated in the study observed influence of anabolic steroids upon the hamsters. The hamsters that were given these preparations became too aggressive. Their brain activity was changed a lot due to these medications.
The researches made a conclusion that steroids damaged people’s brain the same way as hamsters’ brain. According to their words, people think that steroids are illegal due to their athletic effects. But they should understand that the chief reason is negative influence of these medications upon human health. These preparations must be taken only for treatment of diseases by prescriptions of specialists. Administration of steroids in sports must be banned totally.
