Ismael Melendez got 9 years in prison for weapons’ charge in 2005. He was an inmate there. Recently this person was accused in selling anabolic steroids. This person promoted distribution of controlled drugs inside and even outside the prison in New York. Melendez faces charges of prison contraband, illegal possession of prohibited substances and illegal possession of syringes.
It was found out that Richard Finley, Melendez’ substance abuse counselor, had been involved in the illegal deals of Melendez. This man served over 10 years for the Cape Vincent prison. Finley helped him to sell anabolic steroids outside the prison. He was arrested in November 2011. It happened when the substance abuse counselor had caught during selling anabolic steroids to a person in a certain car lot.
Melendez sent Finley to deliver certainprohibited preparations to a client. The purchase was made in a certain shopping centre.
Undoubtedly, a question appears: Why did the substance abuse counselor start to sell prohibited preparations?
The substance abuse counselor told the investigators why he helped Melendez . Melendez promised to give him HGH and 1500 dollars. It would have been given as exchange for promotion of smuggling alcohol, anabolic steroids and creatine inside the prison. But the substance abuse counselor was arrested by the police and charged with possession of forbidden medications and a hypodermic instrument.
Finley made also another great mistake. He brought his little child of 7 years old, when he was involved in the crime. That’s why the substance abuse counselor was also charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
This led to a suspension of Finley from his work without any pay. Thus, this man lost the well-paying job. It is known that Finley earned about 52, 000 dollars per one year.
The inmate Melendez was transferred to another prison. He continues to serve his sentence.
